Paro

Paro is a beautiful valley town in western Bhutan, renowned for its cultural landmarks, dramatic landscapes, and spiritual significance. It is home to the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang), one of Bhutan’s most sacred sites, dramatically perched on a cliff 900 meters above the valley floor. The town also hosts Paro Dzong, a stunning fortress-monastery that showcases classic Bhutanese architecture. Paro is the location of Bhutan’s only international airport, making it a key entry point for visitors, yet it retains a peaceful, traditional atmosphere. Each spring, the town comes alive during the Paro Tshechu, a colorful religious festival featuring masked dances and rituals. Surrounded by terraced fields, pine forests, and snow-capped peaks, Paro offers a perfect blend of nature, history, and spirituality, making it one of Bhutan’s most treasured destinations.
